Ker Yang Hao is the founder of Firewood, an open-flame dining restaurant that has redefined steak culture in Malaysia.
With more than a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, Hao built his philosophy on discipline, precision, and respect for ingredients. Long before recognition arrived, he focused on mastering fundamentals — understanding that consistency, not trend, defines true excellence.
Under his leadership, Firewood has earned international recognition and secured its place among the country’s most respected steak destinations. The restaurant is Michelin Selected and listed among the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants — becoming the first in Malaysia to receive this distinction. These milestones affirm that a Malaysian-born concept can stand confidently alongside the world’s best.
With the expansion into Kuala Lumpur, Hao continues to pursue long-term brand significance, bringing Malaysian hospitality onto the global stage — not through noise, but through standard.

Yinn Earn leads Brand Experience at Firewood, ensuring that every guest interaction reflects the restaurant’s standards and philosophy.
With a background in Hospitality Management and experience in both the hotel industry and aviation, she brings a refined understanding of service excellence and attention to detail.
At Firewood, she oversees the alignment between brand identity and guest experience — from first impression to final farewell. Her role is to safeguard consistency, elevate presentation, and maintain the level of hospitality expected of a restaurant recognised on the global stage.
As Firewood grows, Yinn Earn continues to strengthen its experience culture, reinforcing the belief that true hospitality is measured not only by service, but by how guests feel long after they leave.

My journey began humbly as a dishwasher, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for hard work and growth. I am well-versed in authentic Asian flavors, including Indian, Malay, and Chinese cuisines, as well as Western culinary traditions, allowing me to create diverse and memorable dining experiences.

With extensive experience across the hospitality industry, Soon have worked in both international hotel chains and independent restaurants spanning Western, Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian, and bar-style concepts. His diverse background has strengthened adaptability, culinary knowledge, and understanding of global dining cultures.
After years of broad exposure, Soon choose to specialize and pursue excellence in firewood-style cuisine, joining a firewood steakhouse with the ambition of contributing to a future Michelin-level establishment. Driven, disciplined, and passionate about mastering his craft, He was committed to growing in a team that values innovation, precision, and exceptional guest experience.
QAIA | HEAD CHEF
Qaia has been actively involved in Singapore’s F&B industry, building a solid career as a professional chef. She has worked at prestigious establishments such as Bread Street Kitchen Singapore, owned by renowned celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, as well as Spago Dining Singapore. She later returned to Malaysia to take on the role of Head Chef at Firewood, with the aim of bringing home the skills and experience she gained in Singapore, while showcasing that women are equally capable of leading the fire. Driven by a relentless passion for food, Qaia continues to pursue culinary excellence.
